Abstract

In February 1960 the University of Canterbury Engineering School moved to its new buildings at Ilam, thereby gaining  greatly improved facilities for research work. Subsequently the implementation of a very successful post-graduate scholarship scheme gave much needed encouragernent to graduate student activity.
